In what order do you apply your makeup?
Everyone has a routine that works for them and so do we. We love chatting with people about the order that works best for them. Many clients tell us they don't know which products to apply first and we love helping clients figure out what works best for their skin and what kind of look you are trying to achieve.
This article is dedicated to the order in which we feel is best for applying certain products to your face. It is by no means the rule. You have to test it and see what works best for your skin type, colour and needs.
Here is our 10-step guide!
Our first steps are always cleanser, toner and moisturizer in that order. This will help with fine lines, overall skin appearance and rescue dry, flakey skin.
Use your brow pencil to shape and fill in brows. Brush with a spoolie to blend your pencil and help your brows look groomed.
3: Eye makeup
Add eyeshadow, mascara, and liner as needed. Wipe away any shadow that falls down onto the cheekbones.
4: Primer, BB cream, SPF
You don't need all 3, so choose the right one for your needs. If you have a day-outing, include an SPF or BB Cream for sun protection. If you are headed out for date night, skip the SPF and use primer to set a smooth, blank slate for your makeup.
Pick a foundation colour that matches your body. The idea is to colour match so your face and body look to be the same colour. Make sure to give the foundation a few minutes to set and look at the foundation on your skin in different lighting, both artificial and natural. For a lighter, more natural look, skip this step.
Once your foundation is applied, use concealer to cover any blemishes or areas that may need a little more coverage than just foundation.
7: Set your liquids
Set your foundation and concealer with a translucent or light foundation powder. Use a large powder brush and only a little powder.
8: Add Bronzer, Blusher
Add your bronzer and blusher as needed for the look your are trying to achieve. This warms up the face. If you accidentally apply too much of either product, use your powder brush to colour correct.
Add lip liner, gloss or lipstick.
10: Be fabulous
